Working Groups
Automotive Microchips
Chair: Kirk Ouellette, VP of Global Strategy, STMicroelectronics
The Working Group convenes senior executives from the semiconductor and automotive sectors, alongside federal and provincial policy experts and representatives from the investment community. Its primary objective is to explore practical strategies to enhance the resilience of Canada's automotive microchip supply chain. The agenda encompasses various avenues for bolstering resilience, including design centres, semiconductor manufacturing, and packaging and assembly strategies. The Working Group anticipates concluding its deliberations by March 2025.

Talent & Workforce Development
Chair: Tony Chan Carusone, CTO, Alphawave Semi
The Working Group brings together senior executives from the semiconductor and associated sectors, the academic community, as well as federal and provincial policy experts. The agenda includes analyzing current and projected demand for talent across various segments of Canada's semiconductor sector, and reviewing best practices and novel approaches in international jurisdictions, in order to develop specific recommendations and advocate for their implementation. The Working Group is scheduled to conclude its work in April 2025, with an interim report slated for release by January 2025.
AI Chips
Chair: Eric Duffy, Global Head of Business Development, Tenstorrent
The AI Chips Working Group brings together leading figures from the semiconductor industry, academia, and government to ensure that Canada’s leadership in artificial intelligence translates into industrial opportunities within the semiconductor sector. The group's focus is on developing specialized semiconductor technologies and products that can accelerate AI computational processing. The agenda includes identifying joint initiatives, synergies, potential customer collaborations, emerging market opportunities, and funding sources. Through a collaborative approach, the Working Group aims to position Canada as a global leader in AI hardware solutions.
